Album Biography

By Daniel Sylvester

For many artists involved in Windsor, Ontario’s fertile scene, the cultural hub isn’t just separated by a straggling, emerald waterway, it’s divided via an international border.

When the Covid-19 pandemic shelved travel across the iconic Ambassador Bridge and the convenient Windsor/Detroit tunnel, working musicians, artists, content creators, and journalists had been swiftly cut off from collaborators, partners, and creative spaces vital to their craft.

Over nine tracks and 36-minutes, FOUND IN FLOODS, from Windsor, ON’s HURON LINES comes off as a direct response to our shared moment of disconnect, pause, and loneliness and transforms it into a visceral, bruised masterwork.

PREVIOUS RELEASE 'Lost at the Border'

LOST AT THE BORDER, released in November 2021, is the debut album from new Windsor, ON, Canada quartet HURON LINES is built on musical pedigree that could have only been crafted on the border between Windsor, ON and Detroit, MI.

The album pushes from American post-hardcore and garage rock bliss, British shoegazey swagger and melodic Canadian indie rock - a combination of influences that were carved out of years bouncing around the border cities scenes in touring bands and recording studios on both sides of the border.

Vocally, the combination of Dave Mueller’s gritty baritone delivery combined with RJ Brando’s layered harmonies sets the tone for a band hitting its stride as one of Canada’s up and coming acts to watch.

MEDIA

“Bridging heavy metal, garage rock, post punk with dashes of shoegaze and (to me) even tinges of grunge, Huron Lines' blend power with a longing dreaminess. The artful theater they create for their musical narration has hard edges but the poetry within "Lost and Found" speaks of an endless passion.”
AMERICAN PANCAKE, USA

“Huron Lines have been steadily releasing solid alt-rock tracks for the past few months, catching our attention and making us look forward to more. Their latest single is no exception. Really diggin’ this [...] solid grungy alt-rock with killer vocals and riffs.” FROM THE STRAIT, Canada

“Huron Lines establish their sense of chemistry instantly, with their atmospheric yet gritty debut single.”
INDIE TOP 39, United Kingdom

“Loving the singer's voice - with the rusty tone, it's really cool. Also, really like the melancholic feel. Quality alt rock.” -
CATCH TWENTY TWO, Netherlands

“Huron Lines is a Canadian band with a charismatic singer bringing in mind Girls Against Boys’ Scott McCloud, and ‘Lost and Found’ is an anthemic indie rock single with addictive melodies and loud amplifiers”
LAST DAY DEAF, Greece

“The gravelly vocals and loud/quiet dynamics should instantly throw you back to the grunge era, with some underlying post-punk instrumentals giving the track a decidedly modern spin.”
SOME PARTY, Canada

“[...] a more than enjoyable listen bolstered by some crisply delivered lead vocals that sit with ease amidst the waves of charging electric guitars, building live kit energy, raw lyrics, thumpy bass low end, intense lyrics and clean mix/master. Loads of verve here. Super raw.
I dig it. Props.”

MUSIC ON THE MOON, Canada

"I listened to this album 3 times last night. It’s sooooo good! Huron Lines “Lost at the Border”. Post Punk, dirty guitars with soulful melodies intertwined. I’m a huge Afghan Whigs fan, and this album pulls out some of the same emotions the Whigs bring out in me."
SHAWN V / HAPPY LITTLE CROWD PRODUCTIONS

“There are some amazing raw tones to that vocal - that husky sound to it is great.”
WHEN THE HORN BLOWS, United Kingdom

“The production is stark and clean. The mood of the [song] echoes 90s lesser-known alternative acts. The vocal tone is good and feels weighed down by the burdens of the world—a very strong start from the Canadian quartet.”
